Saturday night, Steve Earle, General Racing, and the Trans Am Group joined Roy Woods Racing Team members and family at a special dinner event honoring Trans Am Team Owner, Driver, and Trans Am Legend Roy Woods.

George Follmer, who won the 1972 Trans-Am Drivers Championship driving for Woods American Racing Associates Team in an AMC Javelin, considered Woods a close friend. "Besides being a very proficient team owner, Roy was a good racecar driver, and a great supporter of racing in general."

Members of the legendary race team gathered and swapped stories about their exploits together. Roy Woods' children were present and were given special mementoes of their father's racing career.

Following dinner the Trans Am Group presented the Roy Woods Memorial Trophy for 2009 to Mark and Linda Mountanos. This award was created in 2004 in honor of Roy Woods and is presented to the Historic Trans Am competitor who clearly supports the spirit and dedication to the preservation of historic Trans Am racing. The recipient properly maintains the originality of their race car and drives aggressively, but with care and concern for his fellow racers. The recipient is continually developing ideas and making suggestions to improve the group and to help us recreate the image of original Trans Am racing.

Mark and Linda are long time supporters of the group, both as racers and as workers. Their constant efforts are always appreciated and this honor is well deserved.
